about me

my name is Hector Guerrero, Born February 8th 1996, born and raised in Santa Barbara California, I've enjoyed drawing since I was child. I remember the first time I showed interest in art, came from a drawing the I received from a prison letter. it was a color pencil drawing of Spiderman. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing I've ever seen and I wanted to learn how to do that. so I attempted, its funny at the time I thought I was pretty damn good, but always wanted to be better, to this day I still experience that same hunger for improvement. I usually got praised as I child for my drawings in elementary but never really liked the attention, I was a shy introverted kid, wasn't good at sports, all I was slightly good at was drawing so I stuck to it. during my teenage years I began getting in a lil trouble from time to time, got sent to Juvenal hall at the age of 14, constantly on house arrest. it gave me a lot of time to myself. which was good for me. I was able to learn about myself.(if your ever trying to find yourself, my advice is be alone. you find out how you enjoy spending your time when your alone.) eventually I realized I needed to get my shit together. I think the thing that did it was seeing my mother cry through a video chat, while I was locked up. I had put her through so much and she never turned her back on me and never stopped believing in me. I wanted her to be proud of me so the grind began. I was going to graduate high school and my mother was going to be able to see me walk down the hill at Santa Barbara high, and I was going to do something with my art. there was an older homie from the same area I grew up in that owned a tattoo shop, I thought it was cool how he did art for a living and i wanted to be just like him. his name was Sergio Diaz aka Timbon, that’s when it clicked I was going to be a tattoo artist. I did my first tattoo when I was about 15 years old on my leg, did a couple other ones on my neighbor and homes at the time (Shout out Arlene Hernandez, Rolando Cervantes and Edwardo Rosales) I stopped tattooing for a while and focused strictly on my drawing until I was 20 and got an opportunity to apprentice with some great people. I began my apprenticeship at slanging ink tattoo in Santa Barbara and worked under my three mentors. Timbon (Sergio Diaz) the owner of the shop, Vinny Tovar, and Brenno Ressa. Amazing people truly grateful for the opportunity to work under them. I had a lot of memorable moments with this shop. and this place will always hold a special place in my heart. I Began my apprenticeship in Oct 2016 that lasted about 2 years and focused mainly on drawing, making sure the shop was clean and my mentors were taken care of, all that good shit. after my first year of actually tattooing 3 years into the game. I quit my job and began tattooing full time.
